The village homestay experience - family holidays in Fiji
December 25th, 2006G’day
This all happened by accident – a visit to Fiji in 2002 which landed up with a day tour to the small inland village of Namuamua on Viti Levu. Follow this up with a holiday six months later at the invitation of the mategali at this village and a late night kava session where I was approached to get more guests staying. Then mix in my good friend from the village of Namatakula, Simon Batibasaga, who doubled as my taxi driver and you have the foundations of this new global enterprise that is spreading across the globe.
The family holidays project has been so successful that it now embraces countries across the globe. We are now actively seeking agents to help us grow this exciting new culturally-based tourist market into worlds as far removed as Cuba to Alaska and Egypt to Croatia. So if you would like to become part of this new evolution – let us hear from you.
This blog is also a forum to share your own experiences and ideas on how we can make village homestays more successful – so your input is welcomed.
